Steve Robinson is an award-winning glass artist and designer. He creates unique works in fused glass to enhance homes, commercial settings and public spaces.
Established in 2002 and for many years based in St David’s, Steve and his small team now have a new studio in Totnes, Devon. We have built up a large client base which includes private glass collectors, interior designers, galleries, retailers and property owners. Much of our work comes from recommendation, or from past customers returning to us. Commercial clients have included Hilton Hotels, PA Consulting, Kraft Foods, Apollo Medical, and we supply John Lewis plc on an ongoing basis with our handmade glass splashbacks.
Each piece of kiln-formed art is unique and created using specialised techniques of enamel powdering to hand-colour the raw material, and blending shades. High temperatures fuse layers of colours and shapes together, building textures and patterns.
The natural environment is a constant influence for Steve. Oceanic themes of movement and fluidity and the interplay of light with water are a key inspiration, with the mesmerising colours of marine life and the textures of flora and fauna in and around the coastline of his home in Pembrokeshire stimulating many of his ideas. “For me the visual attraction is the combination of colour, transparency, light, air and texture. The practical appeal lies in the diverse creations possible – from functional furniture, architectural and lighting pieces, to ornamental sculpture be it abstract or figurative. Through my work I am seeking to create beautiful, purposeful pieces, whilst exploring and challenging the technical limits of glass as a medium.”
We take enormous pride in the quality and appeal of our glasswork and in our service delivery. Communication, flexibility and efficiency are intrinsic to our relationships with clients. Please do contact us with any questions or to discuss any ideas you may have to incorporate a unique glass art feature into your project.
