How to commission glass art
“From the initial phone call to the final installation, the professionalism of Steve’s work has been outstanding. ” Suzanne Davies, Capital Adminstrative Officer for Hywel Dda University Health Board.
Our glass art is suitable for a variety of settings. Past projects have included private homes, company reception areas and boardrooms, hotels, health care centres, hospitals and churches.
All wall art is supplied with appropriate fittings and hanging instructions. All UK and overseas orders will be delivered safely, and where required for larger works we can also provide an installation service.
Commissioning Steve to create a bespoke glasswork is thorough but straightforward five-step process:
The design brief
Steve Robinson will talk with you in detail about your ideas and aspirations and from that will formulate a design brief. This will take account of the style of the room in which the glass art will feature, the colours and materials used and the overall look and feel you want to create. Clients often send us samples and paint swatches to match.
We will confirm the precise cost of your commission. If you want to proceed then a non-refundable deposit becomes payable before the design work can begin, and to secure the project a space in our studio schedule.
Concept drawings
From the design brief, Steve Robinson will produce a number of concept drawings. These will be discussed with you and refined (perhaps combining elements of each drawing) until your perfect design is formed.
Glass samples
You will be given, alongside the concept drawings, specially made glass samples enabling you to see the design colours and textures in their true form. These can be adapted as necessary until you are completely happy.
Payment
Once the design is finalised then the balance of payment becomes due before production of the glass begins.
Completion
When the glasswork has been made, we will send you some images so you can make sure that you are completely happy before taking delivery. The entire commissioning process usually lasts around twelve weeks. We will give you a current lead-time when we take your initial enquiry.
