Bathroom Wall Feature – a Case Study
•Leave a CommentHaving previously made a feature window for these particular clients a year or two earlier, I was delighted when they commissioned me to create a wall feature for their bathroom.
The brief was quite open – as the clients knew that they liked my usual style of work, they were willing to let me come up with ideas and steer the design. The main aim was to introduce colour and interest into the bathroom, which was otherwise neutral in tone.
I felt a fish/water theme would be appropriate, and thought an oval shape would work well to mirror the design of the bath. Here are some of my initial sketches, playing with shapes and forms:
As I discussed the ideas with the clients, the design then started to emerge and develop:
I made samples in glass of the various colours and textures I proposed to incorporate for each element of the design. Once these were approved by my clients I was able to make the actual artwork.
The work is three dimensional, and comprised of several layered sections.
Once the glass was all made, I delivered and installed the work personally.
